NISHI BUILDING

The Nishi Building is a mixed-use building which is essentially constructed differently on either side of the site. The eastern side of the building consist of 10 levels of commercial office and is 6-star Greenstar project. The building has its own black water recycling plant as well as the majority of the roof being constructed from Solar PV arrays.

The western side of the build is the unmistakable pineapple shaped facade which houses 17 levels of private apartments and 2 levels of boutique hotel. Each unit used a clever passive design to eliminate the use of air conditioning by cross flow ventilation into a central atrium.

The highlight of this project would have to be the grand stair case which links the commercial building to the residential building internally and a spectacular wooden installation composed of over 2,150 pieces of recycled timber. These explode outwards, forming walls, ceilings and of course into the stairs.

The building also houses retail spaces, nine cinemas and has five basement levels of car parking. In 2015, the building won the International Building Project of the Year at the Building Awards in London.
